When in doubt, reach out

ColoringLands shares free printable coloring pages for families, teachers, and creative fans in the United States. We respect copyright and trademarks. If something slips through the cracks, we fix it fast.

1. What this policy covers

This Takedown Policy applies to content we publish or host on coloringlands.com. It includes artwork, images, text, titles, and files you can download. It also covers any content we receive from artists, partners, or community submissions.

Key ideas in everyday terms

  • Intellectual Property Rights means your legal rights in creative work and brand identity. Think drawings, characters, logos, and unique designs
  • Violation Material means content on our site that allegedly uses your protected work without permission
  • Business Day means Monday through Friday in the United States, not including federal holidays

A quick example. You are an illustrator in Portland and you spot a printable that reuses your unicorn line art. This policy shows you exactly how to tell us and how we handle it.

2. Our promise to you

We review reasonable complaints in good faith and act quickly. Most reports follow a simple flow

  • You send a notice with required details
  • We confirm receipt within seven Business Days
  • We run a preliminary review
  • If the claim looks credible, we remove or restrict the content while we finish our review
  • We contact everyone involved and work toward a fair resolution

We aim to be helpful and transparent. No legal runaround. No hoops to jump through.

3. How to send a notice

You can contact us through the form on this page or by email at [email protected]. Please include the items below so we can move fast and avoid back and forth.

Your notice should include

  • Your full name and contact information
  • A clear description of the content you believe infringes your rights. Include page URLs, file names, or screenshots
  • A description of the original work you own or represent. If possible, include where we can see the original work online or attach dated files
  • A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized by you, your agent, or the law
  • A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner
  • Your physical or electronic signature. Typing your full name counts for an electronic signature

This notice format aligns with the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act. In short, a complete notice lets us act quickly and correctly.

4. What happens after you report

Once we receive your notice, we take these steps

  • Preliminary review. We check if your claim is specific and credible
  • Temporary action. If credible, we remove or restrict the reported content while we continue to investigate
  • Third party outreach. If the content came from a contributor or partner, we contact them and request their response and any license documents
  • Legal guidance. Where needed, we consult counsel to ensure the right outcome under United States law
  • Follow up. We update you on the result and propose next steps

Possible outcomes

  • No violation found. The content stays online
  • Content stays online because a valid free license applies
  • Content stays online under a paid license that you and ColoringLands agree to
  • Content is modified to remove protected elements
  • Content is removed and will not be republished

If a complaint cannot be resolved, the content remains offline until the parties reach an agreement or a court directs otherwise.

5. DMCA counter notice

If your content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter notice. This protects lawful uses such as licensed uses or fair use under United States law.

Your counter notice should include

  • Your name, address, and contact information
  • Identification of what was removed and where it appeared
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that the content was removed due to mistake or misidentification
  • Your consent to the jurisdiction of federal courts in your district, or for those outside the United States, in a United States federal court where ColoringLands is located, and that you will accept service of process from the original complainant
  • Your physical or electronic signature

After a valid counter notice, we may restore the content unless the original complainant informs us that a court action has been filed within the time allowed by law.

6. Repeat infringement

We do not allow repeat infringement. When we confirm repeated violations by the same contributor or account, we may suspend or terminate access to submission tools and remove related files. Think of this as the three strikes rule, used with judgment and fairness.

7. Friendly guidance for faster reviews

You want a smooth process. So do we. A few tips make a big difference

  • Include direct links to every page or file you are reporting
  • Tell us exactly what in the page is at issue. For example, the castle line art, not the text
  • Share proof of ownership or license terms. For example, a dated portfolio page or a contract excerpt
  • Use one notice per artist or per project. This keeps details clean and easy to track

8. Educational and fair use context

ColoringLands focuses on family friendly printables. Sometimes a use may be allowed by law, such as commentary, parody, or a classroom handout used within fair use limits. We evaluate each situation with care and respect for your rights. When questions are close, we work with you toward a solution that feels right and lawful.

9. Story moment

Imagine Jay, a teacher in Ohio, uploads a classroom sheet to a shared drive, then sees a similar page on our site and worries it uses a protected worksheet. Jay sends a notice with links and screenshots. We confirm, review, and either show the license we already have or take the page down while we sort it out. The goal is simple. Do the right thing quickly and keep everyone informed.

10. Data we keep

To manage claims responsibly, we retain notices, counter notices, and related correspondence. We store only what we need for legal compliance and audit. We protect your data consistent with our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Takedown Policy to reflect new laws, court decisions, or improvements in our process. When we make changes, we update the effective date on this page and apply the new terms going forward.
